Objectives:
Healthy Child Uganda is a community based partnership that works with local citizens to identify and solve the problems that most impact their children's health.
Activities:
HCU is committed to three guiding principles: participatory development, health promotion and sustainability. We emphasize healthy practices such as immunization, good nutrition and preventing disease. We train village volunteers to recognize, refer and treat sick children in their communities. We also build capacity in child health program management and research at Mbarara University of Science and Technology through faculty training, mentoring and student placements. In addition we work to build capacity at local health centres through staff training and facility improvements.
